These amulets are made in Thailand by temple monks. Some of the figures are made of metal or stone and some are covered with gold leaf. Many of the figures incorporate some combination of the ashes of cremated self-realized monks, dried fruits, nuts, incense, herbs, floes etc. They are much sought after by Tibetans and most of the men and many of the women wear one. Buddha can be described as an energy field similar to Christ Consciousness so whoever wears the Buddha in reverence becomes part of this field.

The little statues are sold in the temples and then one must take them down to the craft areas where they are they placed into little altar cases for wear around the neck or placement on an altar or other sacred spot.

These Buddha are not made for export and must be purchased on the spot in Thailand and brought back personally. My selection is acquired by my son on his occasional trips to Bangkok and I have added a red drawstring bag; the color favored by the Buddhists for their reliquaries.
